Kamalnath Mahadev

Located in the hills of the Avaraghar region in Jhadol tehsil, around 80 kilometers away from Udaipur, the historic Kamalnath Mahadev Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is rich in folklore and is thought to have been founded by Ravana. Because of his great devotion, Ravana performed the unusual deed of sacrificing his own head to Lord Shiva in a hallowed fire pit. Lord Shiva was moved by this gesture and inserted an amrit into Ravana's navel. This temple is unique in that it has a practice of worshiping Ravana before Lord Shiva, highlighting the importance of paying respect to Ravana before requesting Lord Shiva's blessings.
